The 10 Best DIY’s for Oily Hair

I struggle with oily hair, and I believe it stems from my desperate need to shower every day. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get myself out of the habit of a daily shower, but I cannot seem to break it. I feel nasty when I don’t wash my hair every day, which brings me back to being oily. So today I thought I would do research in to what the internet suggests for oily hair, specifically DIY, that way you don’t have to go out and buy a million products. Let’s check them out!
Apple Cider Vinegar

According to my research, the acetic acid contained in apple cider vinegar will help to balance the pH of your scalp, which will decrease the secretion of too much oil and and get rid of oil build up. It will also give you soft and shiny hair.
How do I use it?
I have two options for you: a rinse for after your shampoo and a hair mask.
Hair Rinse: Add 3 Tablespoons of ACV to a cup of water, and after shampooing with a mild shampoo, apply the mixture to your hair and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing it away. This will help get rid of product  and oil build up on your scalp. Repeat two to three times per week.
Hair Mask:
  • 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Juiced Lemon
  • 1 Tablespoon of Honey
Whisk ingredients together or blend them in a food processor, the apply to damp hair. If you have long hair you might want to tie it up. Place a towel or shower cap over your hair and let the mask sit for 30 minutes. After the time has elapsed, rinse with shampoo and conditioner. Repeat once a week.
