The Konjac Sponge: What it is and How to use it

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and a very happy Easter (if you celebrate it). I had a very quiet weekend, got some good work done and gave myself a little at home spa day. It was wonderful. Today I’m going to give you guys some info and a review on another awesome skin care product. Let’s get into it!

What is a Konjac Sponge?

The Konjac sponge originated in South Korea and is now a staple in beauty care routines all over the world. The sponge is great for gentle exfoliation and deep cleansing makes this sponge an absolute essential. The best part about the sponges from this company (the original Konjac sponge company) is that they’re 100% natural, certified Vegan and Cruelty-Free and packed full of minerals for all kinds of different skin conditions!

How are Konjac Sponges made?

All sponges from The Konjac Sponge co. are handmade and tested, which means they are produced free of chemicals, coloring or other additives that can add nasties to your skin. Konjac vegetable fiber is blended with different French clays, depending on the sponge and the beauty effects you want to get out of it. Here is a list of all of the different sponges The Konjac Sponge Co. offers:

100% Pure Konjac: All Skin Types/ Normal skin

Charcoal Powder: Oily and spot-prone

Green French Clay: Oily t-zone/ combination

Red French Clay: Dry, damaged and mature (also eczema & rosacea)

Pink French Clay: Tired and devitalized

Chamomile Powder: Soothes angry, irritated skin

Green Tea Powder: Antioxidant-rich to purify and calm skin

How do I use it?

There are two different ways to use the Konjac Sponge; with and without product. I use mine both ways. I use it in the morning and evening without product and once per week, I use it to exfoliate. To use the sponge, wet it in warm water for a few minutes until it gets squishy and soft. Massage it on the skin in a circular motion and reap the benefits!

How do I take care of my sponge?

When you’re done using the sponge (provided you didn’t use a product on it), squeeze out the excess water and hang it by its string in an airy, dry place. I place mine on the handle of my cupboard in the bathroom. If you leave your sponge in a pool of water or in a humid place it will go moldy. When you care for it properly, your sponge can last up to 3 months!

What does MandyMBeauty think of the Konjac Sponge?

I have the French Green clay sponge that helps me treat my combination skin. I use it every day, twice a day, and I love it! My first impression was that the sponge had a very earthy smell, and reminded me a lot of a sea sponge. However, once I wet it the smell went away and it was a really pleasant feeling on my face. I love how gentle the sponge is, it is one of the only products I can use without it feeling scratchy or irritating my face. I plan to purchase more sponges to treat other afflictions I have on my face. I love the fact that all of the sponges are 100% natural and cruelty-free also!
